Hoping someone can answer this for me

If I'm connected to my VPN on my android phone and start streaming a movie, but then cast the stream from my phone to my chromecast. Is the stream through my chromecast still encrypted? This is all connected using my home broadband router and wifi.

I keep reading that people can't connect to Chromecast at all when their vpn is active... Although I can connect no problem even with vpn, i just wondered if it's still encrypted when casting?
