google geolocation
« on: January 12, 2019, 03:19:55 AM »
Hello,

Hope someone can help me with this problem. I am using a VPN provider that is based in NL and when I use google.com or .co.uk  it always shows me search results from NL. I live in the UK and I want see pages from the UK. In the VPN client I can select the UK as country location for the servers but it still does not work as the network has been recognized as being from NL I have tried with Chrome, Edge and Firefox and get the same issue. I have read that google has disabled the option to select the location and it will always redirect to pages of the country where your IP is registered (that is NL for me when I use the VPN), Is there a way to avoid this silly geolocation?

Many thanks,

Hello,

it may be that the history is cashed. If Chrome (works on other browsers too) sees that you're connecting from NL and then you switch servers to the UK the browser will still act on cashe history and give you results from NL. So I'd advice you to clear your browsing history (cashe and cookies) and then turn the browser on when on UK server. You can as well just turn off the VPN and then the traffic will go through your UK ISP and should give you UK results again. Anyway, I'd use a VPN on just clear the cashe and use incognito mode for extra safety. Please write if the problem is still not solved.
